Reduce False Alarms for Everyone’s Benefit

house security

The Halifax Regional Municipality By-Law Respecting Burglary, Robbery and Fire Alarm Systems is meant to reduce and, hopefully, eliminate the number of false alarms that currently take place. The by-law covers fees on assessed property owners for false alarms:

  • The very first time, in any 12-month consecutive period, a false alarm occurs on your property, there is no fee.
  • Should this happen on a 2nd, 3rd or subsequent occasion, then you would be charged a fee of $100, $125 and $150 respectively.
  • Should a false alarm occur that can be demonstrated to be beyond the control of the owner, then the fee could be dropped through an appeal process.

Power Security Systems is committed to reducing false alarms by verifying alarms, training customers on use of their systems, using ULC-approved equipment and providing high-quality service and maintenance of systems.
